i dont know how controversial this is because ive seen people voice questions about whats going to happen after rays' shutdown, but i wholeheartedly think bamco should stop investing so much into making tales gacha games, as they simply havent been a viable way to keep the community focused on tales

rays honestly has the best case scenario shutdown-wise, as opposed to:

-asteria, which lasted 10 years and got a rather abrupt eos announcement after 10 years

-the global version of rays and tolink, both of which hardly lasted a long time compared to beasts like gbf

-crestoria, whose rocky launch ended up shaking it up in a way it couldnt ever recover from the initial stumble

-luminaria, whose weird gameplay practices and lack of legacy cast members caused it to be quickly left in the dust by the community at large

it is understandable that rays is concluding, because it was at LEAST able to tell its story to the end. counting how many shutdowns there have been, only one ending on a less disappointing note is pretty rough.

(i am not even going to get into the predatory aspects of gacha here, but know those motivate my opinion strongly)

ultimately, i think bamco should focus on the older mainline games at this point. as much as i dont like suggesting remasters, because there HAS been a trend of remasters being done for games that get a full modern-game-tier price tag, it would effectively be the best way to not let tales die. theres many titles that people want brought to modern consoles. thats the reality of it. arise for one has failed to bring back the things people associate tales with

hell, a good number of games have never gotten translated and people would be happy with getting those! though on a smaller scale, all the ps3 additions from tov got translated (even if the general handling of it, like not updating the original translated script for consistency, has its flaws). admittedly, translating a full game would take more than handling a few hours' worth of scenes, but my point is that there is an audience for this.

however, thinking about the awkward tos switch launch (and other past mishandlings of the franchise) doessss make me wonder if bamco is capable of treating tales with any decency at this point. who knows!

Dedicated to TALES OF LINK​ I made this manga project as a "thank you" gift for the people who created and contributed for this great Tales mobile game.

Dear ToLink, Thank you for every little thing that made me so much happier than before. I've been playing your game for about two years, and I enjoy every day of my time completing every quest, collecting weapons, awakening characters, and so much more. One of the memorable moments I had was the "Pose like the Hero" contest. At first, I was about to give up because the deadline was so close, but I chose not to give up and decided to digitally cosplay Lailah. The effort  in illustrating my whole costume brought me in 2nd place, and it was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. Thank you.

I will cherish all the memories from the journey I had in Tales of Link. This fan manga project is dedicated to you, and I hope you like it. Once again, thank you for the wonderful two years.

First impression: That’s a good looking guy! Who is tha- Wait! Is that me?! I- I’m a guy? Woops. Better go change my name! But man, I like his design. He looks kinda cool.

Impression now: Even though he’s more or less the silent protagonist, I still really like him. He’s pretty badass actually. I just wish they would give him a name plate. Everyone has one! He’s the protagonist. He deserves one too! It bugged me soo much while playing as Zephyr.

Favorite moment: When he and Lippy give parts of their souls to save Sara’s life ‘cuz I really like Sara.

Idea for a story: Him and Lippy switching bodies :’D

Unpopular opinion: Liking him is probably the most unpopular opinion since most people just don’t like the “silent protagonist”.

Favorite relationship: With Zephyr and Sara. 

Favorite headcanon: It’s the same as Zephyr’s.

Remember when we all had wonderful time playing tales of link and then they shut down the server and we were all "oh at least we still have tales of Rays" and then they shut down that too and now there's no global tales mobile game and we all have to stare longingly at Asteria now 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Jade is the best.  I don’t know the context for this but I think they’re trying to buy gifts for someone?  I love imagining Yuri standing in an aisle like “What... what present should I get.... what do girls like?????? Swords?? Everyone likes swords right??  Christ I can hear Flynn making fun of me already.  Ok, uh... this... thing looks like something Estelle would like.  And Estelle is a girl.  Right?  Right.  Excellent I am the best at presents.”

After much thought, I have finally decided to quit Tales of Link. Several factors went into this decision and quite frankly, I have been getting increasing irritated by this game and decided that it’s better to just quit.

Reasons mainly: - This game’s tile RNG sometimes makes me want to smack the game. It not only wastes my time but I’m getting irritated by it because it wastes my time - Farming and unlocking PSV and training artes just takes away too much time that I can’t even spend time on the other 2 mobage that I actually care more about (Brave Frontier and FF Brave Exvius) - The constant overlapping events, especially those that require time to farm overlapping each other (this includes SA) - The file size of this game is just getting too big and just, well eats up space for the other 2 mobage that I actually care about. The latest update really pushed it over the edge… - Being P2P for 3 games is just getting x_X and the crap gacha rates

There’s probably more but eh (I no longer have friends list issues tho). But quite frankly the major factor for this was file size and time needed for this game and the constant overlapping events. I consistently need to keep my characters updated (ranking SA, unlocking PSVs, etc) in the case of future events that I don’t even have much time to do other stuff, especially story stuff, for BF and FFBE except for events and leveling (bless in game Brave Frontier macro) and quite frankly that really irks me. And it’s not even due to me losing interest in the Tales Series. It’s just how this game works and how it’s being managed.

Well it’s been fun while it lasted ToLink. If you’re in my friend list feel free to remove me unless for some reason you want to use my pub team or something.

Hopefully now I can concentrate better on Brave Frontier (I still love this game so much and I still have a ton of game content to clear) and FF Brave Exvius (I’m really into the story like seriously I keep getting impatient for the next part). This is also to prepare for the future possibility of Brave Frontier 2 getting a global release in the future (did I mention that I really love this game). Also maybe start being able to play the console games that I really want to play.
